trampoline-rebounder work-out

Working-out is an obvious essential component for optimal health & wellness. There are many ways to get and stay fit. Here’s one method highly recommended by longtime member of NEU’s Health & Wellness faculty, Dr. Jayne Marquis, ND (featured in the photo)

A Rebounding Work-Out

I took up the sport of trampoline 5 years ago, as a fun, get fit, teach my brain and body to stretch and be more, kind-of- sport. I have continued, and hope to keep it as my first and foremost way of keeping fit, for several reasons.

I have danced all my life, done step aerobics, yoga, Pilates, and more, but when I started trampoline, I was astonished by how demanding it was, on even the smallest muscle. And, like I will discuss below it felt like every cell in my body was getting a work out. I found it to be extremely efficient at toning and strengthening. I was personally amazed to discover 3 hours a week on a trampoline did more to give me a lean body mass than 10 hours I did previously dancing. It’s also super fun—an amazing sport where there is always so much more to learn. And I have to say; I find it to be the single-most effective form of exercise I have ever found. As time went on… I started to research more on the benefits of trampoline, and for those without access to a full-size trampoline, ……re-bounding.

I – and maybe you – have heard about the fitness craze, rebounding: A workout on a mini-trampoline; great as a cardio workout, but is there more to this exercise trend?

Blake Mays, fitness director at Club H gym in New York City, and author of the new eBook, 100 Tools to Change Your Brain, Body & Spiritual Being, says it’s the secret exercise everyone should be doing because it energizes every cell in your body.

Here are my top six reasons to get healthy, get on a re-bounder, OR join a trampoline club:

1. Get a natural face lift. As we age, oxygen levels in the skin cells decrease, resulting in a loss of elasticity and the formation of lines and wrinkles. Rebounding circulates more oxygen to tissue and increases elasticity.

2. Develop the lean muscles and balance of a ballet dancer. Rebounding encompasses gravity, acceleration, and deceleration into your workout, which elongates your muscles as if you were a ballet dancer.

3. Your back and knees will love it. It’s a low-impact cardio exercise that absorbs 80% of the shock.  As a result it helps strengthen your back muscles and takes the pressure off of your spine and knees, without the strain and trauma of a hard surface workout.

4. Work out like a NASA astronaut and build bone. A NASA study found that rebounding is 68% more efficient than running or jogging. And rebounding proved to be the best exercise to rebuild the lost bone tissue of astronauts whose weightless state caused them to lose 15% of their bone mass. So rebounding can help prevent osteoporosis and reverse damage. There are recent studies showing the affects that rebounding has on bone mass, showing it to be an excellent form of exercise to build and maintain healthy bones. Women in their 60s and 70s have reported the bones of an 18-year-old after rebounding for several months.

5. Not only THAT but recent studies have showed a connection between healthier bones and fewer wrinkles! Yes, increase K2, but also rebound your way to better bone density. This should be enough to nurture a life long love affair with your re bounder

6. Say “adios” to colds and allergies and EVEN Cancer. Rebounding cleanses your lymphatic system and boosts your immunity. It does this by moving lymph. Lymph is a fluid system that is responsible for most immune action. But it is different in that it doesn’t have a pump. So in order to get the fluid moving, with all its arsenal of immune fighting cells needed to combat viruses, bacteria, toxins, and cancerous cells, you need to move! It is through movement and muscle action that lymph circulates. The most effective way to do this is through rebounding.

To read more about rebounding and lymph you may be interested in reading a book published by Albert Carter, “The Healthy Cell Concept, Benefits of Rebounding and the Cancer Answer” Al is also interviewed on Sanitas Radio, Sanitas Radio.com

Carter is a former trampoline athlete who noticed the amazing benefits of trampoline. He went on to research the immune boosting benefits, and suggest a protocol for a healthy immune system, that is capable of turning even Cancer around.

SO, go ahead, look for an Urban Rebounding class at your local gym: Select, Crunch, Equinox, YMCA, and Bally gyms offer group classes. Or, try it at home with the 6-Pack DVD set and mini rebounder, OR join a fitness class at a local trampoline club. In Toronto we are blessed with more than one – I personally go to Just Bounce Trampoline with 8 full- sized trampolines, a wonderful atmosphere, and excellent instruction. Find one near you!

to your health – get rebounding!
